“For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Galatians 1:12 NKJV
Paul was clear that his message did not come from man, but from Christ.
Today, we are blessed with pastors, teachers, sermons, books, podcasts, and Bible studies. These can be wonderful tools to help us grow, but they were never meant to replace our own time in God’s Word.
It is possible to know what others say about Scripture and still not know Scripture for ourselves.
The Bereans listened eagerly to Paul’s teaching, yet they “searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11). They did not reject teaching. They tested it against God’s Word. That is discernment.
God still speaks to His people through His Word. When we open Scripture with humble hearts, we are not merely reading ancient words on a page. We are meeting with the God who gave them.
Sometimes we can read the same verse or passage many times, and then one day the Lord illuminates His Word in a way that feels like light breaking into a hidden place of the heart.
The words have not changed, but suddenly they speak with fresh clarity. A truth we had read before becomes personal. A passage we thought we understood reaches deeper. God uses His Word to teach us, comfort us, correct us, and draw us closer to Himself.
Listen to good teachers. Receive wise instruction. But do not build your faith on borrowed understanding alone.
Open your Bible. Study it. Test what you hear. Let Scripture shape what you believe.
Truth to Carry
A faith grounded in God’s Word will stand stronger than a faith borrowed from someone else.
